Rockwood Lithium R+D Facility
Kings Mountain, NC
Research and development facility designed for manufacturing lithium metal products for battery industry.
- Chemistry laboratories
- Areas for Titration, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP)
- Incorporated a dedicated Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and X-Ray technologies
This project involved the engineering systems design for a new 47,000 SF research and development facility in Kings Mountain, NC, near a crucial production source of Lithium. Rockwood is a leading manufacturer of lithium metal products for the battery industry. This form of lithium is used in fuel cells which electrochemically convert hydrogen and oxygen into electricity and water. The facility’s spaces include chemistry laboratories and areas for Titration, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP). Other aspects of the design included incorporating a dedicated Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-Ray technologies and chemical storage spaces.
