The design of a new ophthalmology clinic allows for future expansion.
- Clinic with multiple subspecialties
- Incorporated equipment for oculoplastics, refraction, and Lasik procedures
- Allows for expansion flexibility
Located on a sloping, wooded site near the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, this project’s scope included the design of a new, 52,000 SF two-story ophthalmology clinic in Hickory, North Carolina. The clinic accommodates eight practitioners with multiple subspecialties, including space and equipment for oculoplastics, refraction, and Lasik procedures. As designed, the $8 million project gives the clinic the flexibility to expand with a future ambulatory surgery center and two more operating rooms. Optima provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design on the project, completed in 2008. (Images courtesy of Eckert Wordell Architecture)
